6 places that hold world records
The Largest forest - The Amazon Rainforest
Most of us would think that the largest forest on the earth is the Amazon rainforest. But, it is only the largest tropical forest not the largest among every kind of forest. There is a customary tendency to consider the tropics as largest due to their fast-growing vegetation glimmering with lush greenery. But the world’s largest timber is in Northern Russia vastly ravaging 4 kilometers crowded with conifer trees. Amazon rainforest is 2.5 km that spreads a little more than half of the coniferous woodland.
Largest active volcano - Mauna Loa
The largest active volcano proudly ensconces in Hawaii in which its lava flow can submerge roughly half of its land area that’s 5125 sq. kms of the island. This volcano named as Mauna Loa spans 50kms widely and ascends up to 120 kms.
Also, the world’s most active volcano is in Hawaii, which erupts lava frequently. It is Kilauea that continuously erupts since 1983 and the youngest volcano in the world also stands in Hawaii.
Wettest desert on earth
It is true that we can only imagine about a desert that’s too hot and dry to survive. But the desert Sonoran in Arizona, USA has two wet seasons. This desert receives rain between 120 mm and 300 mm every year. But this doesn’t mean that the desert is not hot because during the summer season, temperature exceeds more than 40 degrees celsius in daytime.
Largest sand island
Sand island is an island or sand dune surrounded by seawater on all sides. And, the largest sand island is the Fraser island settling on the coastline of Queensland in Australia. Even though it is a sand covered island, it has rainforests too and made it as the only sand island where rainforest grow. This Fraser island is over 120 kms long and 30 kms width.
Largest lava lake
Lava is the flaring semi- liquid rock under the earth’s surface and during volcanic eruption, this comes out over the earth’s surface. Generally, this extremely hot molten lava cools down and solidifies into rocks and sometimes amassed together to form a lake. And the largest lava lake is in Congo that lies in the depression of Mount Nyiragongo volcano of 250 metres width. The mesmerising scenery of lava bubbles and boiling red hot liquid in the lake is really a ferocious experience.
Coldest place on earth
As we all know, Antarctica is the place that holds the credit of being the coldest place. The lowest ever temperature on earth is minus 82 degrees celsius that occurred in Antarctica in 1938. Still, we can found many living species there as the presence of thick fur and a thick layer of fat under the skin ensure warmth to the animal and birds inhabiting there.
All these six places are truly adventurous and spine-tingling for you.
