Chalal:
While Kasol is a mainstream village in the Parvati valley, one can experience true peace of mind by trekking somewhat further from this village to the beautiful little town of Chalal. Manikaran:
Manikaran, situated on the Banks of the River Parvati, is one of the most revered holy places of pilgrimage for both Sikhs and Hindus. It is situated at an altitude of about 1,800 meters on the banks of the holy Parvati river surrounded by snow-capped mountains.
It is believed that Guru Nanak Dev Ji came here after being inspired by the sacred river in Manikaran, and he stayed in those wild woods for quite a while. Another legend goes that once Parvati had lost her earring while going for a walk with Shiva and asked him to retrieve it. Shesh Nag vanished into the earth with the earring, and thus Shiva did the Tandava dance to get it back. This illustration is based on this story and depicts the serpent holding an earring in his mouth. And this is how the town, Manikaran gets its name from Mani, meaning jewel, and Karn meaning ear.

Trekking in the Parvati valley:
Trekking in Parvati valley is a dream come true for any adventure enthusiast. The trail leads through deep valleys, thinly forested with pine trees and Himalayan oak groves. The mountains will make you feel humbled, while some sections are so beautiful that they will leave you awestruck. To begin with, the Parvati valley trek is moderately difficult therefore requires good physical fitness. Millions of tourists visit Parvati valley every year to enjoy the beauty of this place. The Kheerganga trek has an altitude of 13,050 feet. There are various routes for you to follow. You can start from Kasol to Barshaini and then you can go via Nakthan Village or Kalga village or Tosh Village. Well, the preferable route is via Nakthan village because it is easier and shorter than other routes to Kheerganga. The astonishing journey enamors you with the tremendous abundance of nature and kicks your soul with peace. The trekking route of simple to moderate gradient offers you some genuine experience which is not quite the same as the routine Himalayan trips. As you walk along the trail amidst the thickets of oak trees that line up one after another, leaves shimmer with dewdrops creating a spectacular sight for you.
Then, there are stony trails, brilliant meadows, and tough climbs along the sparkling Parvati River that make you sense as in case you are residing inside the home of Lord Shiva. As you shower into the hot springs after a tedious ride, your entire body goes through a therapeutic upgrade. This inborn jacuzzi at such a peak of 13,000 feet is the most entrancing fascination of the wondrous Kheerganga adventure. you could quickly move on tree trunks in case you land up falling inside the flooding water beneath.
The ideal season to go to Kheerganga is between April to June and between September to November. The temperatures are mild, and the valley is rich with a green aura everywhere.
Kheerganga is a secure journey that can be tried by couples or even performed alone. It ranges from easy to mild level of difficulty and is an adventurous one. The moderate inclination of the Kheerganga journey involves that one has at least some health level and perseverance to have the capacity to move thru difficult paths.
