Ponmudi

Ponmudi situating in Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala is a part of the Western Ghats mountain range. This place with a cold climate stands 2000 ft above sea level and is blessed with a wide variety of birds, lush vegetation, frothy fountains, etc. Ponmudi also known as the "Kashmir of Kerala’ became the main attraction of tourists where they can have trekking and dwelling in cottages.

 

 Gavi

Extended greenery, crystalline waterfalls, mountain valleys, and dams make Gavi one of the best eco-tourism destinations in Kerala. Gavi that situates in Pathanamthitta is an apt place for birding as 250 varieties of birds are identified here. Travelers can reach here from Kumali in Idukki and from Seethathodu in Pathanamthitta. Silent Valley

Silent valley is the largest rainforest in Kerala situating in Mannarkkad, Palakkad. This place is imbibed with the perfect beauty of nature and is bestowed with the presence of two rivers named Bhavani and Kunthi. Silent valley is the second national park in Kerala. Silent valley owes its name due to the absence of crickets. Distinct varieties of butterflies, frogs, and shrubs can be seen here and this destination is well known for its conservation of Lion-tailed macaques and Hornbills, which are the endangered species. Trekking and other eco-tourism programs are being conducted by the Forest department on this core part of Neelagiri Biosphere Reserve.

 

Nelliampathy

Nelliampathi is widely known as `Poor man’s Ooty’ situates in the Palakkad district.  It takes around ten hairpin turns from Nenmara to reach this hill station.  Pothundi dam built in 19 century stands as the threshold of this spot. Tea, coffee, orange, cardamom plantations, farms, and the `Palakkadan Wind’ are the central attractions of Nelliampathy. Many  Localities in Palakkad and several villages in Tamilnadu can be seen from the hilltops. Seetharkund with a  waterfall of 100 meters made Nelliampathy much more eminent due to its historical importance.

 

Kadalundi

Kadalundi is a  village in Kozhikode where the Arabian sea meets with the Kadalundi river. This destination is known for the massive presence of migratory birds. Numerous mangroves and diverse flora and fauna make Kadalundi unique from other territories. Kadalundi is the only bird sanctuary in Kozhikode. Kadalundi-Vallikunnu community was established in 2008 for the conservation of Kadalundi’s biodiversity. This scheme made Kadalundi a notable tourist spot in Kozhikode. The splendid moments of gazing at the flight of various migratory birds and the lush green vegetation can be a fascinating experience for nature lovers.
