Lakes can be found everywhere in this world. But all lakes are not the same, some are bestowed with mystifying disposition. Let's see some of these lakes.
MYSTIFYING LAKES TO VISIT
Lake Baikal
Baikal which is the oldest lake in the world situates in the southeastern part of Siberia. This lake is over 25 million years old and the deepest with 1700 meters in depth. Baikal holds the largest reservoir of fresh surface water as it is unique for its crystal clear water. The lake is surrounded by mountains and has around 22 islands over the lake. It is also called as `future ocean’ as it looks so huge and growing at an average speed of 2 centimeters per year. Baikal is eminent for its diverse flora fauna because there are around 2600 species of animals in which 70 percent can only be found here like Nerpa and Omul. Nerpa is the world's unique freshwater seal and omul is Baikal’s popular fish. Baikal is also considered a holy place that holds supernatural power.
Lake Turkana
Lake Turkana city locates in a remote region of the Great rift valley in the northwestern part of Kenya. This place is famous for two features:- crocodiles and the immense presence of anthropologists. There are over 12,000 crocodiles in this lake that feed on Nile perch, a large predatory fish in the lake. Also, lake Turkana is the paradise of anthropologists because they have discovered the oldest fossils of ancient men even famous anthropologists like Mary, Louise Leakey, and their son were also involved. Anthropologists have discovered the footprints of early men in the volcano depositions and came to a conclusion that they walked here 2 million years ago and they have even got the skeleton of a 13 years old lad.
Soda lakes
Can you imagine a lake that bubbles like soda? Well, if you go to East Africa’s Rift Valley, you can see many soda lakes that bubbling and fizzing like soda and also floats with the green, pink, and blinding white color. The extremely high concentration of washing soda or sodium carbonate in the lake makes it blinding white. Lake Magadi and Lake Natron have the highest concentration of sodium carbonate and the hottest lakes among others. Soda lakes are abundant in microscopic animals and plants that bestow green and pink color to the lake. Also billions of tiny creatures like algae, brine shrimp graze release air bubbles that occur like water fizz and bubbles. These tiny animals attract massive immigration of Lesser Flamingos and they also get pink color due to the consumption of these bacteria.
Lakes filled with crocodiles, fizzing and bubbling water, diverse varieties of animals like Omul and Nerpa, all can be a special experience for you.
