BEAUTIFUL CAVES THAT CAN MAKE YOU WONDERSTRUCK

Mammoth Cave

Mammoth cave settled beneath the forest dense hills of southern Kentucky in the USA is the world's longest system of caves. There are around 570 kilometers long subterranean passages that open up to huge chambers and vertical bars. The enormous rooms are capable to hold a nine-story building. The main cave with 12 to 90  meters in width has numerous broad rooms like Star Chamber with protruding white crystals through the veil of manganese black oxide visualizes an optical illusion and the Chief City that measures 164 meters by 88 meters. The array of beautiful gypsum flowers, mirabilite flowers, narrow stalactites and stalagmites, drooping draperies, lacy crystals, columns, and shields are breathtaking wonders in the Mammoth cave. There are also lakes, waterfalls, corridors, and streams in it.

Jewel Cave

The BlackHills of South Dakota proudly sits over the subterranean Jewel cave that shines with the brilliance of gems. Jewel cave was found in 1900 that ravages 230 km of passages whereas many more remains to discover. This cave is eminent as the second-largest cave in the world. The dripping icicles from the ceiling, the stalagmites rising from the floor and the tiny silver-colored bubbles on the walls are the astounding features of Jewel Cave. But the vital trait is that the wind blows into the cave due to the barometric pressure changes. Many rooms in the cave are named after the sound of wind blowing through them like Hurricane corner, Exhaust pipe, Whistlestop, etc.

Frasassi Cave

Frasassi Cave was discovered by a local farmer named Boldrini in 1948 but the systematic exploration of the cave was done in 1971. The caves that are part of the Frasassi Groves and beneath the Apennine Mountains in Italy stretches over 13 km opens up an upside-down world. Pristine still pools, steep limestone surfaces, banks of mud give a visual treat to the visitors. Stalagmites that reach heights glittering like diamonds, enormous marble pillars, and the drapes of frosted rock that evolved to the present shape by millions of years are all the marvels of Frasassi Cave.

Wind Cave

The two remarkable traits of Wind cave in the USA are the strong wind and the box work. When the pressure surges, the wind rushes in and when the pressure drops, the wind blows rushes out. The cave made up of limestone is adorned with impeccable box work patterns which are the fancy projections from walls made up of mineral calcites. 95 % of the world’s box work formations are found in the Wind cave.
