- North Sea
North sea situating between British and Western Europe was jozzled off by a sea flood in 1953. This sea flood was caused by the emergence of two happenings. The day was of high tide and the ferocious storm whipped over the North Sea that generated a hazardous flood across the shores of the UK, Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, and Frances. In Netherland, over 1800 people were killed and swept off numerous buildings and properties. The saltwater flooding made the places incapable of vegetation and it took several years for the restoration of the places.
- Kolkata
Cyclone is a frequent visitor to places like Bangladesh and Calcutta that often causes huge destructions. Do you know that the word `cyclone’ was composed in Kolkata in the 1840s by an English man named Henry Piddington? A tropical cyclone thrashed Kolkata city on 7th October 1737. This cyclone swept in from the Bay of Bengal packed up with winds of more than 200 kilometers per hour. As Kolkata is one of India's largest cities, it cleared up more than 3,00,000 lives even though the figure is not accurate.
- Chicago
Chicago city was repleted with 3,34,000 residents even during the time of 1870. The streets, sidewalks, properties were all made up of wood and the people frequently used hay and straw in every barn. To make the situation worse, they even used oil lamps and candles. In 1871, the fire was common due to dry weather. On October 8, 1871, a fire broke out from a shed and disseminated widely through the city. All the wooden constructions, homes, mansions were swallowed by this ferocious fire. To escape from this, many people plunged into Lake Michigan and thus drowned. Even though the mishap ended in two days, it killed 300 people, made 1,00,000 people homeless, and devastated 200 million worth of properties and it took around 3 years to restore to the earlier stage.
- Chernobyl nuclear power station
Chernobyl is a nuclear reactor locating in Ukraine and is comprised of four nuclear reactors. These four nuclear reactors produced 10 % of electricity for Ukraine. On April 26, 1986, an explosion arose and red hot radioactive dust was proliferated across Europe. 29 people died instantly from the explosion and hundreds of people became sick from the radioactive substances. Even now many parts of Ukraine are not safe to live in and farm in.
Visiting the places that were once glorified and then collapsed by these hazardous calamities will apprehend that everything in beauty will eventually die.
