Ladakh, one of the most sparsely populated regions of Kashmir, lies between the Kunlun mountain range to the North and the great Himalayas to the south. Ladakh is a place straight out of your Dreams. Ladakh tourism started in the 19th century. Approximately 20000 tourists visit Ladakh every year. Well-preserved Tibetan-Buddhist culture makes Ladakh even more attractive.
             
Here are some of the best places to visit in Ladakh at least once in your life.
 

1) Pangong lake:- Pangong lake is the most popular tourist place in Ladakh. Interestingly, the lake is 12 KM long and marks itself between the laps of India and China. Rather, 60% of the portion is stretching in the neighboring nation and this excites every Traveler to be here. Pangong lake's surreal clean blue waters are actually brackish or salty in Nature and this feature doesn't let any aquatic life survive in the same. In Pangong lake, the temperature ranges between 10 to -30 degrees. This salty lake freezes with thick ice sheets. It is amazing to visit this beautiful place in the months of May to September. In the rest of the months, winter turns harsh and gets a thick coat of frozen sheet of ice.

2) Chadar - The frozen River:- The frozen river Trek, which is one of the most popular winter Treks, is also one of the longest trekking trails in the Indian Himalayan region that covers an entire stretch of 90 KM. The journey leads from Ladakh to the snowbound Villages of the Zanskar valley. The temperature there might be below -10 degrees.

3) Hemis monastery: The abode of the lamas:- Hemis monastery is a Himalayan Buddhist monastery of the Drukpa in Hamis. It was re-established in 1672 by the Ladakhi king Sengge Namgyal. Hemis monastery is famous for its own festival which is Padmasambhava. This festival is the beauty of the hamis. It is held in early June. This festival is especially famous for its ladakhi cultural dance.
